DoTerra in Latin America

I didn’t know much about DoTerra Essential Oils when they opened a new market in Colombia in 2019, but I’m always down to try something new. Especially if its healthy! I love learning and expanding my professional portfolio (in two languages!). Plus I had my Ninja Courage Trainer, Alissa Nourse, to show me the ropes.

After an awesome meeting at MidTown Essential Oils in Reno, where I got hands on with the entire DoTerra collection, I was hooked. In October I signed up to be a DoTerra Wellness Advocate, or as we say in Colombia, un vendedor independiente. Since then, I’ve focused on growing my essential oil collection, expanding my knowledge on their uses and health benefits, sharing them with friends, and incorporating them into my daily routine.

If you’re like me, just saying daily routine (especially right now!) makes you think, “routine – what’s that?” Personally I’ve found that rather than trying to do the same thing at the same time each day, as long as I make the time to do that thing each day, that is just fine! Baby steps, right?

Check out the video below to learn more about essential oils, or keep reading to see how I incorporate DoTerra into my day!

My DoTerra essential oil routine usually begins with a drop or two of Lemon in a glass of warm water. I love how it gives a healthy and refreshing boost to my morning. Taking Lemon internally cleanses the body and aids in digestion.

Throughout the day, I diffuse different blends, depending on my mood. Citrus Bliss is one of my favorite uplifting scents. It’s a DoTerra blend of Wild Orange, Lemon, Grapefruit, Mandarin, Bergamot, Tangerine, Clementine and Vanilla Absolute that creates a positive atmosphere while adding a refreshing aroma to the air in my office.

Before bed I tend to load the diffusor with calming oils like Lavender, Frankincense, Clary Sage, Petitgrain, and Chamomile. DoTerra also makes a proprietary blend of floral and mint essential oils called Peace that creates a calming environment.

If you don’t have a diffusor yet, it is definitely an investment worth making. I have noticed huge improvements in my life and my health since I got mine – a smell can transport you to another time and change your state of mind.

My partner is a huge fan of DoTerra oils too! He used to drink Coca-Cola or something sugary and sweet every day, and now his choice beverage is a glass of ice water, with a drop of Lemon and a drop of Lime essential oil. Sometimes I switch it up for him by adding Wild Orange or Grapefruit. Either way, he is happy, and way healthier! He’s even asked to add oils into my baked creations: cinnamon and ginger mix well with cookies, pies, and breads. We experiment with oregano, basil, and thyme in pasta dishes too. The kitchen is one of our favorite places to experiment!

Having been a bartender and worked in the restaurant industry for half of my life, I love experimenting with drinks and essential oils! I mix drops of citrus fruits like Bergamot in our afternoon tea, spice up coffee with a drop of cinnamon, or add a drop of peppermint to hot chocolate for a taste of winter.

Speaking of Peppermint Oil, the high menthol content sets DoTerra apart from other oils when it comes to quality. This powerful plant promotes healthy respiratory function, clear breathing and digestive health when taken internally. It is also a natural bug repellent. There’s a reason this is DoTerra’s best seller. Hit me up if you want some!

DoTerra is not just an Essential Oil company. In my shop, you will find an assortment of personal care items, supplements, and cool diffusors.

One of my favorite products is the OnGuard Natural Whitening Toothpaste. It’s fluoride-free with Wild Orange, Clove, Cinnamon, Eucalyptus, Rosemary, Peppermint, and Wintergreen, giving  your teeth a fresh and clean feeling throughout the day.

Another DoTerra product that I can’t live without is my Tea Tree Essential Oil. It is known for its cleansing and rejuvenating effect, and soothing irritated skin, but it can be harsh so always use a carrier oil like coconut, argan, or almond oil to dilute it. The leaves have been used by the Aboriginal peoples of Australia for centuries!

One more thing to mention regarding my DoTerra Essential Oil routine is that it has replaced my lotion as a moisturizer. Instead of lotion, I use coconut or argan oil with a few drops of DoTerra essential oils after taking a shower. I like being able to mix the different scents and the take advantage of their medicinal benefits.

If I feel down in the morning, I’ll use a combination of orange, jasmine, and sandalwood but if I need energy, I’ll mix grapefruit, lime, and peppermint. I created a signature scent for my roller too: Copaiba, Bergamot, and Ylang Ylang, which coincidentally smells like my favorite flower in Cali, Colombia.
